Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has just made it crystal clear that her famous jollof rice pot isn’t going anywhere – no matter how much money people throw at her.
The Guinness World Record holder dropped this bombshell during a press conference at the Gino Nigeria office in Lagos on Saturday.
nd honestly, her reasoning will probably make you respect her even more.
It turns out plenty of people have been sliding into her DMs (so to speak) asking about that massive pot.
Some wanted to buy it outright, others suggested she should auction it off for big bucks. But Hilda? She’s not having any of it.
“So many people have asked about that pot. Some want to buy it, others said we should auction it.
But that pot is a symbol of a lot of beautiful things — history, faith, innovation. It represents many things,” she explained.
Hilda revealed that even the process of getting the custom-made pot built was meaningful, making it essentially priceless in her eyes. Instead of cashing in, she’s got much bigger plans.
“We’re not going to sell it. We’ll make sure as many people as possible get to see it in its glory. One day, you may even find it in a museum or on your way to work,” she said.
Now that’s thinking long-term. Rather than a quick payday, she wants this piece of history accessible to everyone.
Let’s not forget what made this pot famous in the first place. On Friday, September 19, 2025, Hilda used it to cook the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice ever recorded – a whopping 8,780 kilograms (that’s over 19,000 pounds!).
The event happened right there on Victoria Island in Lagos, and Guinness World Records officially confirmed the achievement.
The whole thing was a massive spectacle. Thousands of people showed up, including some serious A-listers like actress Funke Akindele, Ogun First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, dancer Kaffy, designer Veekee James, reality star Tacha, and influencers like Papaya, Enioluwa, Alex Unusual, plus singer Spyro.
This isn’t Hilda’s first rodeo with breaking records either. She first captured global attention back in 2023 with her incredible 100-hour cook-a-thon.
