Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has approved a reduction in working hours for civil servants during the 2025 Ramadan fast to allow them more time for spiritual activities and preparation for the daily fast-breaking.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 4, in a statement by Muhammad Dagaceri, Public Relations Officer of the State Head of Civil Service, in Dutse, the state capital.
According to the new schedule, civil servants will now report to work at 9:00 AM and close at 3:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, shortening the usual 5:00 PM closing time by two hours.
On Fridays, work hours will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as is customary. Dagaceri explained that the adjustment aims to support employees during the holy month.
“This decision allows civil servants to have more time to prepare for the daily Ramadan break and engage in spiritual activities.
It is also an opportunity for them to pray for God’s guidance, peace, and economic prosperity in the state and the country,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the government remains committed to creating a supportive work environment, particularly during significant religious periods.
