Peter Obi has dismissed corruption allegations from presidential aide Daniel Bwala, saying he won’t waste time responding to “such characters.”
Bwala had accused the former Anambra governor of fraudulently depositing state funds in a bank where he allegedly held personal interests, claiming Obi profited from the arrangement while in office.
“Peter Obi saved money, but he saved it in a bank where he was the chairman at the time. That’s where he was making money,” Bwala claimed.
“When you subtract the state’s liabilities from the supposed savings, there’s nothing left. It’s pure 419.”
Speaking on a recent podcast, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate didn’t hold back.
“Ordinarily, I do not answer these types of characters,” Obi said. “When I left office, I wasn’t owing any salary, gratuity, pension, or supplier who had delivered goods to the state.
The man has never even been to Anambra State.”
He added that engaging with such critics only fuels their agenda: “I just leave them because that’s what they feed on.”
Obi emphasized that his administration’s financial records were transparent and verifiable, insisting he left Anambra without outstanding debts to workers or contractors.
The former governor said his priority remains addressing issues affecting ordinary Nigerians rather than getting drawn into political mudslinging.
