Trump Slams Bishop for Criticizing Immigration and LGBTQ Policies, Demands Apology

Trump

Former President Donald Trump has fired back at Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington after she urged him to show compassion towards illegal immigrants and LGBTQ individuals during her address at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday.

In her remarks, Bishop Budde voiced concerns over Trump’s recent policies, which she argued were creating fear among marginalized groups. These policies include measures announced on Monday following Trump’s second inauguration, aimed at halting asylum seekers’ entry and deporting undocumented migrants.

Trump, in a strongly-worded statement on Wednesday, dismissed the bishop as a “Radical Left hardline Trump hater” and accused her of using the platform to make “nasty” and “politically charged” remarks.

“She brought her church into the world of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone and not compelling or smart,” Trump stated. He further described the service as “boring and uninspiring” and criticized the bishop for her approach.

Trump concluded by demanding a public apology from Bishop Budde and her church, asserting that their conduct was inappropriate for a religious setting.
