Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has welcomed a fact-finding team from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to Gusau to investigate the recent tragic airstrike in the state. The delegation, led by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Coordination and Cooperation in the NAF’s Civil-Military Relations Department, assured the governor of the Air Force’s commitment to professionalism and transparency.
The meeting, held at the Government House in Gusau on Tuesday, focused on the January 11 airstrike in Tungar Kara, Maradun Local Government Area, which caused the unintended deaths of over 16 residents.
“We are here to conduct a thorough and objective investigation into the reported incident,” Gabkwet stated during the engagement.
This visit aligns with an earlier statement by Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, reaffirming the Air Force’s dedication to uncovering the truth behind the tragic event. Following discussions with Governor Lawal, the NAF team proceeded to Tungar Kara for an on-the-spot assessment of the affected community and the incident’s aftermath.
