Abuja to Host 1st Dragon Shotokan Karate National Open Tournament November 27–29

Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, is set to witness excellence in martial arts when the 1st Dragon Shotokan Karate Club National Open Tournament takes place from November 27-29, 2025, at the Gymnasium Hall, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The event, sanctioned by the Karate Federation of Nigeria, in conjunction with the World Karate Federation, is a Factor 6-rated KFN tournament that promises an electric display of skill, discipline, and national pride.

The tournament, which has been made possible by top sponsors of youth development and sport promotion, also lists Cretetech Global Limited as Platinum Sponsor and Expo Solutions Ltd. as Gold Sponsor. The list also includes Ekoh C. Ekoh Enterprises Nigeria Ltd., Silveron Nigeria Ltd., and Necfine Trading and Farming Services Ltd. as Silver Sponsors, while Abumet Nigeria Ltd., Setraco Nigeria Ltd., Yuharu Nigeria Ltd., and Julius Berger Nigeria PLC are Bronze Sponsors.

The open-format competition welcomes karate practitioners from across the country, with no belt restrictions, into Kata and Kumite categories. The winners will be rewarded with ₦100,000 for gold, ₦60,000 for silver, and ₦30,000 each for bronze positions, with free accommodation provided for all participants.

Speaking before the event, Sensei Emmanuel Emenike, President of the Dragon Shotokan Karate Club, noted that the tournament goes beyond competition. “It’s a celebration of unity, discipline, and the spirit of the Dragon. We call on every warrior across the nation to rise, compete, and make history,” he said.

With an expected convergence of top talents in Abuja, the championship promises to rekindle passion, precision, and the indomitable spirit of karate in Nigeria’s martial arts arena.
