Adams Oshiomhole to Goodluck Jonathan: Don’t Run in 2027 Election or Risk Your Legacy

Goodluck Jonathan

Adams Oshiomhole has a blunt message for former President Goodluck Jonathan: stay out of the 2027 race.

The former Edo State governor and ex-APC chairman warned Jonathan against listening to people pushing him to contest again, saying only his enemies would want him back in the ring.

“How can Jonathan be a threat? We defeated him before when the PDP was truly PDP,” Oshiomhole said during a Sunday Politics interview on Channels Television.

“If a man had PDP at its peak and was still defeated, only his enemies would push him to contest again.”

Oshiomhole urged Jonathan to protect what he’s already built, a legacy of grace and dignity after peacefully handing over power in 2015 following his loss to Muhammadu Buhari.

“If I were him, I’d maintain this status. He governed for eight years; there’s no need to govern for nine,” he said. “He has shown that out of power, one can still be relevant and respected.”

The senator didn’t hold back on Jonathan’s current political standing either, claiming his influence in the South-South has dried up since leaving office.

“The South-South is no longer PDP. Where will he start from?” he asked.

Oshiomhole wrapped up by reminding everyone of Jonathan’s famous 2015 statement: “My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.”

He urged the former president to stand by those words rather than risk tarnishing them with another loss.

Jonathan made history in 2015 as Nigeria’s first sitting president to lose an election. He served from 2010 to 2015 before Buhari unseated him.
