A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, urged the Service Chiefs in Nigeria to act with urgency and decisiveness over the increased cases of killings and kidnappings in recent times across parts of the country.
Oyintiloye, in a statement on Sunday, condemned the rising wave of terrorist attacks in states such as Niger, Kebbi, Kwara, among others, describing the situation as “unbearable” and leaving many families devastated.
He appealed to the military high command to rescue abducted schoolchildren and stop the ongoing attacks, underlining that Nigeria is “bleeding” and cannot afford further delays.
Oyintiloye said that the insecurity has displaced entire communities and thrown parents and families into fear and anguish.
“If it means changing their operational tactics, they should do so without hesitation because time is running out,” he said.
He called for a new operational approach to the current level of violence, while also acknowledging the efforts of security agencies.
He also called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to ensure that any sabotuers undermining military operations are identified and prosecuted, adding that reports of internal compromise needed to be taken seriously.
Oyintiloye hailed the commitment of the President towards national security, but stressed that Nigeria can only win the war against terrorism if all actors work together.
He called on the people not to lose hope, assuring them that the country will surmount its challenges if people unite and cooperate.
