Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed one person and kidnapped three others in Yankamaye, a community in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

Hon. Sani Bala Tsanyawa, the lawmaker representing Ghari and Tsanyawa Federal Constituency, confirmed the attack in a Facebook post, expressing sorrow over the incident. He said the armed men stormed the old town of Yankamaye late Saturday night, around 11 pm, when most residents were asleep.

The spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, also confirmed the attack, adding that security personnel had been deployed to track down the attackers and rescue the victims.

Yankamaye lies close to Kankia LGA in Katsina State, an area that has faced persistent banditry and kidnapping. The latest incident marks the second attack in Tsanyawa LGA within a week, following the abduction of ten women in Sundu and Biresawa communities last Tuesday.

As of the time of this report, the location of the abducted victims remains unknown.
