Oshiomhole and Ndume Clash During Reno Omokri’s Ambassadorial Screening in Senate Showdown

A heated exchange broke out Thursday between Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Ali Ndume as lawmakers screened former presidential aide Reno Omokri for an ambassadorial role. The confrontation happened in Room 301 of the National Assembly complex during the ongoing screening of President Bola Tinubu’s 65 ambassadorial nominees. Omokri sat quietly as two of the Senate‘s most outspoken members went head-to-head over procedure and politics. Things kicked off when Oshiomhole started addressing Omokri’s nomination. “Look, I cannot be intimidated by people who go here and there. After all, we see people on television questioning this list,” Oshiomhole said. Ndume quickly jumped in, insisting the Senate must follow proper rules. “The procedure is that if there is a motion on the ground, it should be seconded. If it is not seconded, it’s dead,” Ndume fired back. Oshiomhole wasn’t having it. He raised his voice and appealed to the Committee Chairman for protection. Senator Abubakar Bello tried to cool things down, reminding Oshiomhole his time was running out. Still, Oshiomhole continued: “Mr Chairman, I think I need to speak on this in the public interest, with particular reference to Reno’s nomination. We cannot pretend we have not heard stories.” Ndume shot back sharply: “There is no such petition before us. The Senate is not a joke!” The argument escalated when Oshiomhole took a dig: “When I talk, those who have not been governors should listen. You need a large heart to forgive. Look at President Tinubu, someone may criticise you or abuse you, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t appoint them.” Ndume responded immediately: “You never dreamed of being a senator when I became one.” The Chairman stepped in again to restore order, while Omokri stayed calm throughout the verbal exchange. The drama followed another awkward moment from Wednesday, when career diplomat Emmanuel Adeyemi stumbled during his own screening. Adeyemi, who has served in Hong Kong and France, shocked senators when he couldn’t name all three senators from his home state of Ekiti. He correctly mentioned Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Yemi Adaramodu, but forgot the third, Senator Cyril Fasuyi. Someone in his group tried to quickly Google the answer, sparking anger among lawmakers. Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong criticized what he called falling standards among high-level appointees. Oshiomhole and Senator Seriake Dickson agreed, though Senator Yunus Akintunde asked for understanding. Adeyemi is one of three ambassadorial nominees from Ekiti State, along with Erelu Angela Adebayo and Olumilua Oluwayemika.

Osun Governor Adeleke Defends Dancing Habit: “It Doesn’t Affect My Job Performance”

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has stood his ground on his love for dancing, saying it has never gotten in the way of running the state. In an interview on Channels Television‘s Politics Today Wednesday, the governor, popularly known as Nigeria’s “dancing governor”, dismissed criticisms of his energetic public performances, calling them unfair. For Adeleke, dancing is just a hobby and his way of relaxing after long hours of work. “I will keep dancing because I love to dance, I love to praise my God, and that doesn’t change anything,” he said. He explained that everyone has their own way of unwinding, and his happens to involve dancing and praising God. According to him, voters are more interested in good governance and tangible results than whether their leader dances in public. The governor, who is running for a second term under the Accord Party, brushed aside concerns that his lively personality might damage his political prospects. He believes his track record will speak for itself. Adeleke recently went viral after breaking into praise and worship at a public event before his speech. The moment drew attention when First Lady Oluremi Tinubu briefly stepped in, triggering a wave of reactions online. Mrs. Tinubu later clarified the situation, saying the online backlash was blown out of proportion.

Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has ignited a fresh debate online after boldly stating that her husband, Femi Atere, cannot have a female best friend. During an appearance on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, Veekee was asked whether married men should be allowed to maintain close friendships with women outside their marriage. While she acknowledged that it might work for some couples, she made her position crystal clear, it’s a hard no in her household. “Femi Atere can never have a female best friend,” she declared without hesitation. “There is absolutely no space for any woman to occupy that position in my home. El-Zakzaky Says Buhari Will Answer to God for 2015 Zaria Massacre That Killed Over 1,000

Ten years after the deadly clash between Nigerian soldiers and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), the group’s leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, says former President Muhammadu Buhari will face divine judgment for the tragedy. The 2015 incident, which occurred under Buhari’s administration, began when IMN members blocked the convoy of then-Chief of Army Staff Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai in Zaria, Kaduna State. What started as a minor altercation quickly escalated into a brutal military crackdown that led to the eventual banning of the IMN. Human Rights Watch reported that at least 300 IMN members were killed and secretly buried, while a state-backed commission later put the civilian death toll at over 1,000. El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, were arrested during the crackdown and held in detention until a Kaduna High Court cleared them in 2021. Speaking at a press conference marking the 10th anniversary, El-Zakzaky criticized the Buhari government and subsequent administrations for failing to publish the commission’s findings or compensate victims’ families. “Nothing has been done. They do not even acknowledge that anything happened,” he said, noting the report was submitted to the government on September 7, 2016. He accused the current administration of keeping “total silence” despite earlier promises of justice. When asked if he had forgiven Buhari, El-Zakzaky said the former president’s chapter was closed. “As for Buhari, it’s simple. He has passed away. We will meet on the Day of Judgement,” he said. He recalled that while lying wounded after the attack, one of Buhari’s ministers called him. “Tell him my greetings. We will meet on the Day of Judgement,” he reportedly responded. El-Zakzaky insisted the 2015 crackdown strengthened rather than destroyed the IMN. He said global demonstrations following his arrest helped spread the group’s message worldwide. He confirmed the IMN has filed a case internationally through the Islamic Human Rights Commission, with all evidence, photos, videos, and documentation, already submitted. “One day the court will look at it,” he said. Despite government restrictions on public gatherings, El-Zakzaky said the movement will keep operating. “If they don’t want to see us, they will still see us. If they don’t want to hear us, they will still hear us,” he declared, signaling the group’s determination to remain active under pressure.

BLord Reveals He Hired Teenage Hacker Who Stole $1.2 Million From His App

Crypto entrepreneur BLord has sparked debate after revealing how he responded to a teenage hacker who broke into one of his apps early in his career. Speaking at SMFest Awka 2025, BLord shared that the hacker was “a very small boy” who managed to breach his platform’s security. Instead of pressing charges, he made an unusual choice: he hired the teenager to work for him. “I lost $1.2 million to hackers on one of my apps. I caught one of the hackers, and instead of handing him over to the police, I employed him to work for me,” he told the audience. The story got loud reactions at the event, with many praising it as a smart business move, similar to how international companies recruit ethical hackers to test their security systems. But not everyone is buying it. Some skeptics pointed to BLord’s past controversies, including EFCC investigations and allegations around crypto dealings, which he has consistently denied. To them, the story feels like an attempt to clean up his image. Others celebrated the decision as bold leadership and a testament to Nigeria’s young tech talent going unrecognized. “Hiring the hacker instead of arresting him? That’s genius,” one person commented. Another responded: “Hmm… with BLord’s history, I don’t know what to believe again.”

Eyewitness Explains Viral Moment Between Remi Tinubu and Governor Adeleke

A man who was on stage during the widely discussed incident between First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has shared his account of what actually happened. The moment, which saw Mrs Tinubu interrupt Governor Adeleke while he was singing at a public event, quickly went viral and drew sharp reactions online. But the eyewitness, known as @akintollgate on social media, says people are missing important context. Posting a video from a different angle, he clarified that the First Lady wasn’t singling out the governor. “She interrupted others during the program to keep to the schedule. I was on stage the entire event. It may not look pleasant, but it wasn’t malicious,” he explained. He added that Mrs Tinubu had intervened several times throughout the event to keep things running on time, and Governor Adeleke’s turn at the microphone was just another instance. Still, opinions remain split. @_ugomsinachi criticized the approach, calling it “uncouth and callous,” particularly toward a sitting governor in his own state. He pointed out that even in church settings, there are more respectful ways to signal that someone’s time is up. Meanwhile, @prinxe_B defended the interaction, thanking the eyewitness for providing context. He described it as harmless banter that reflected a familiar, playful relationship rather than disrespect. “What happened between them was simply a light, brother-sister kind of joke, but many chose to take it out of context. Yoruba culture has its own unique way of expressing familiarity and respect,” he said.

US to Require Five Years of Social Media History for Travellers Under New Border Security Proposal

The United States is considering major changes to its entry requirements that would require international visitors to submit five years of social media history before entering the country. According to report, a notice in the US Federal Register reveals that applicants would need to provide all social media accounts, email addresses, phone numbers, and detailed information about immediate family members during the screening process. Currently, UK citizens and travellers from other Visa Waiver Programme countries can visit the US for up to 90 days using ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) – a straightforward online application with a small processing fee. The proposed changes would significantly expand what information travellers must share. New requirements would include biometric data collection such as facial recognition, fingerprints, iris scans, and potentially DNA samples during the online application stage. These checks are currently only done in person at US borders. A mandatory selfie would also become standard for all visa and ESTA applicants. US officials say the enhanced screening is essential for national security. However, privacy advocates warn the measures could violate civil liberties, pointing to previous cases where travellers were denied entry based on content found on their personal devices.
