PDP-GF Chairman and Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has denounced party members that leave the party, calling them cowards who lack the courage to stand up and battle for its survival.
Speaking after a wave of defections involving that of Enugu State governor Peter Mbah, who is to officially ditch the PDP next Tuesday, following similar reported plans by Bayelsa governor Douye Diri and Taraba governor Agbu Kefas Mohammed urged loyal members to remain steadfast.
He asserted, “We are certain. Be strengthened; do not be discouraged by the desertions or the conduct of the Doubting Thomases. Staying behind to combat is what tests a man or woman. Deserting is a cowardly thing to do because of one man or woman. You are men and women of courage and strength as well.”.
Reiterating that the party’s nationally scheduled convention will proceed as specified, Bauchi state’s governor issued this statement, “We have been suffering a lot as a party and have been enduring the storm. This convention is here to stay, and we are going to Ibadan by the grace of God. No Jupiter will hinder us. No dark forces will prevail over us. If they prevail over PDP, they have prevailed over Nigeria.”
Mohammed also lamented the condition of the country, faulting the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration for failing to fill the leadership gap engendered since the exit of PDP from power in 2015.
“We have to do something within the democratic space to change the situation,” he stated.
