Barack Obama Honors Fela Kuti in New Global Podcast Series “Fear No Man”

The musical and revolutionary heritage of Nigerian icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti are being celebrated worldwide in a new podcast series compiled by erstwhile United States of America President Barack Obama.

Titled Fela Kuti: Fear No Man, the 12-episode series is produced by Obama’s media company, Higher Ground, in association with Audible. In a statement heralding the project on Instagram, Obama referred to Fela as “a musical genius from Nigeria who crafted art out of activism,” and challenged listeners everywhere to learn about the life of the Afrobeat pioneer who meshed funk, jazz, and soul into a sound that inspired generations.

Much more than a biography, the series is a deep dive into Fela’s art, uncompromising activism, and enduring legacy. It features exclusive interviews with Kuti family members  his children, Yeni and Femi Kuti, and his grandson, Made Kuti  who share intimate information about his life and legacy.

Fela Kuti: Fear No Man continues Higher Ground’s tradition of celebrating revolutionary music legends, its prior work on Stevie Wonder. The podcast honors Fela’s unafraid stand against oppression and international impact on music and social justice.

The series is exclusive to Audible and other leading podcast platforms.
