Two Lagos police officers have become the subject of nationwide mockery and criticism after a video of them fighting each other in broad daylight went viral on social media.
The incident, which occurred at Jankade Bus Stop in Lagos, shows the uniformed officers wrestling and throwing punches in the middle of the road while stunned passersby looked on.
Bystanders, including fellow officers, eventually rushed in to break up the scuffle. The video quickly spread across X (formerly Twitter), drawing thousands of reactions from Nigerians.
Social media users didn’t hold back, with many expressing a mix of amusement and disappointment over the embarrassing display.
“Na friendly match,” joked one user, @nzekwe_arinze, while @Cee_Teecee added, “Some go think say na movie, but this is why Lagos is something else.”
Another commenter, @OnyiaChisimdi, wrote sarcastically: “For 9ja, police dey fight and citizens dey separate them. What a country!”
Several people speculated that the fight was over money, with some suggesting the officers were arguing over how to split a bribe.
“Dem dey drag how dem go share money wey dem thief,” claimed @alaye_ng.
The Lagos State Police Command has not issued a statement on the incident, but many Nigerians are calling for an investigation and disciplinary action against the officers involved.
