Dangote Commends Ooni’s Intervention, Launches Record-Breaking Education Fund

DANGOTE

Aliko Dangote has expressed deep gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for his pivotal role in facilitating the construction of his factories.

Dangote revealed that the site initially posed significant challenges due to the presence of over 19 shrines, which hindered development efforts. However, the Ooni’s personal intervention, which involved directing the removal of the shrines, enabled the project to move forward.

Speaking at the launch of his foundation’s ₦100bn Annual Education Support Fund, Dangote praised the Ooni’s actions, stating, “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, because without the simpler acts of yours, I don’t think we would have actually been able to do this.” He emphasized that the Ooni’s intervention was instrumental in allowing his team to commence work on the site.

The launch of the education fund, which Dangote described as the largest private-sector education intervention in Nigeria’s history, is expected to have a profound impact on the country’s education sector.

The initiative is projected to benefit 1.3 million students over the next decade, providing much-needed support to the education system. Dangote hailed the launch as “a defining moment” for the Aliko Dangote Foundation and “a significant turning point for education in Nigeria”, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to driving positive change in the country.
