Delta Sports Boss Onos Dedicates Best Commissioner Award to Governor Oborevwori, Delta Athletes

In an emotional outburst at the 3rd Nigeria-France Sports Award in Paris, Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori  also known as Onos dedicated his Best Commissioner of the Year Award to Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the people of Delta State.

The award ceremony, held on October 20 at Maison Des Arts in Le Plessis-Robinson, Paris, was a celebration of excellence in international cooperation, grassroots development, and sports leadership.

Onos, in his speech after receiving his award, expressed gratitude to God, his family, the governor, and Delta athletes, saying, “I was not expecting this. I dedicate this award to my elder brother, the Governor of Delta State, and to the great people of Delta, especially my athletes who made this possible.”

Onos, who was appointed in November 2024, has been praised for his visionary leadership in keeping Delta ahead in Nigerian sports through its concentration on school sports, gender-inclusive programs, and youth talent identification and development. His grassroots-oriented approach has turned Delta State into the national model of sporting excellence.

Other awardees at the event included Zulu, Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, who received the Award of Excellence for Grassroots Sports Development; Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende), who received the Green and White Champion Award; and FIFA/FA licensed agent Dr. Drew Uyi, recognized for his global impact in football representation.
