Former Senator Shehu Sani has sparked debate on social media after advising women to avoid checking their husbands’ phones without permission.
The ex-Kaduna Central lawmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) to caution that snooping through a partner’s phone often causes more harm than good, leading to unnecessary pain and relationship breakdowns.
Sani argued that not every truth is worth uncovering, particularly in marriages where trust should be the foundation.
He pointed out that many domestic conflicts start when one partner invades the other’s privacy looking for evidence of wrongdoing.
“If you cannot handle some truths, don’t go searching for them in this imperfect and temporary life,” he wrote. “Don’t search the phone of your husband without his consent.”
Using striking imagery, the former senator warned: “When the Devil directs you to your husband’s phone, he wants to open your eyes and shut down your heart.”
His statement suggests that while snooping may reveal uncomfortable truths, it often destroys the emotional bond between partners rather than bringing clarity or resolution.
Sani encouraged couples to focus on communication, trust, and mutual respect instead of letting suspicion drive their actions.
He concluded his message by urging people to avoid creating problems that could have been prevented.
“Avoidable tragedies should be avoided!” he added.
