The Kano State Hisbah Board has intercepted a vehicle carrying alcoholic drinks from Lagos State to Kano, following what it described as credible intelligence.
Confirming the operation, the Deputy Commander-General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, said Hisbah operatives attached to the Fagge Unit acted swiftly on the information and stopped the vehicle along its route.
According to him, about 13 packs of assorted alcoholic beverages were recovered during the interception. Preliminary findings suggest that the consignment was allegedly sent by a woman from Lagos to Kano.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and is currently undergoing questioning as investigations continue.
Dr. Mujahideen appealed to residents to keep supporting the Hisbah Board by reporting activities that go against Islamic laws in the state, noting that public cooperation remains vital to the success of the agency’s operations.
