“I Couldn’t Last 10 Minutes”: Nigerian Lady Opens Up About Struggling with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey’s Hallelujah Challenge

A Nigerian woman has caused a honest conversation online after admitting she’s been struggling to keep up with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey’s Hallelujah Challenge this year, despite participating actively in the past.

The lady, who goes by @kosyuncut on TikTok, shared a candid video explaining that while she used to join the popular midnight praise and prayer session with full energy and enthusiasm, this year just feels different.

She revealed that she attempted to tune in to one of the recent live sessions but barely made it through ten minutes before dozing off.

“I used to do the previous ones, but this particular one, I haven’t joined. I’m just so tired and overwhelmed,” she said.

“Yesterday, I actually joined when Pastor Nathaniel went live, but I didn’t spend up to 10 minutes. I was so sleepy, and I left.

Then I asked myself, am I unserious? Does it mean I don’t have problems I want to pray about?”

Kosy admitted that even though she has personal prayer needs, she just doesn’t feel the motivation or readiness to participate this time around.

Her honesty was relatable with people online. Some admitted they’ve been in the same boat, while others reassured her not to beat herself up over it.

“You’re not alone. Sometimes spiritual fatigue is real,” one user wrote.

Another added, “God understands our hearts even when our energy is low.”

For those unfamiliar, the Hallelujah Challenge is a virtual midnight worship and prayer movement started by gospel singer Pastor Nathaniel Bassey in 2017.

Every June, thousands of people from around the world join the live sessions on social media to worship and pray together.

Kosy’s video has since opened up a bigger discussion about spiritual burnout, the pressure to stay consistent in faith practices, and whether it’s okay to take a break when you’re mentally or physically drained.
