The Kano State Police Command has heightened security monitoring across border communities following a strategy review meeting convened by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori. The development was disclosed on Monday in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

Held at the State Police Headquarters in Bompai, the meeting brought together Operational Commanders and senior officers to reassess existing security measures and adopt improved strategies for safeguarding the state.

According to the statement, CP Bakori commended officers for their commitment and selfless service, urging them to sustain the Command’s recent security gains. He emphasized that the review session was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, particularly regarding community-based policing.

To strengthen this approach, the CP directed Operational Commanders to intensify sensitisation campaigns in both rural and urban communities, encouraging residents to actively support efforts that promote peace and security.

A major focus of the session was enhanced security in border communities, especially villages in Shanono, Tsanyawa and Rogo local government areas. Bakori noted that personnel and equipment deployments have been reinforced in these vulnerable zones and called for increased vigilance.

Senior officers present included Deputy Commissioners overseeing Administration, Operations and Investigation; Assistant Commissioners in charge of Intelligence, Area Commands and specialised units; as well as Tactical Commanders from the Rapid Response Squad, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Anti-Daba Squad and Safer Highway Patrol.
