Kano to Host 11th Nutritious Food Fair 2025: Focus on Innovation, Healthy Eating, and Food Security

Kano State will be hosting the 11th edition of the Nutritious Food Fair (NFF) on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Meena Event Centre. The fair aims to promote innovation, healthy consumption, and agricultural transformation as well as improve Nigeria’s food and nutrition systems.

Speaking at a press briefing session held at the Audu Bako Secretariat, Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Hon. Musa Shanono, explained that the event is organized by HarvestPlus in partnership with its global office in Washington, Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Health, Kano State government, and UK-funded Propcom+ Programme.

Shanono explained that the fair will be an energetic platform for discussion, learning, and interconnections among policymakers, researchers, farmers, and processors of food with a common desire to propel Nigeria’s nutrition and food security agenda.

More than 100 commercial exhibitors and 2,000 attendees are expected, with activities that include exhibitions, panel sessions, business deal rooms, capacity-building workshops, NutriQuiz competitions, and the NutriKitchen Cooking Contest.

One of the highlights of the event will be the presentation of the Kano State First Lady as the “Smart Mother of the State,” for sensitizing individuals on nutrition awareness and empowering women to change their diet to healthier alternatives.

Shanono added that in addition to driving consumption of nutritious food, the fair will also create job opportunities for the youth and spur new business connections within Nigeria’s nascent nutritious food industry.
