Suspected bandits abducted the Deputy Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Samaila Bambu, in his home town, Bagudo, in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, according to local sources, occurred on Friday evening when some gunmen, believed to be members of the Lakurawa terror group, invaded the area and kidnapped the lawmaker.
The incident was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris, who said he had received preliminary reports about the abduction: “Yes, I just got the information about the alleged abduction of the Deputy Speaker in his hometown this evening. I am in touch with the Director of Security in the state,” he stated.
Idris then added that the government was taking immediate steps to address the situation and would release further details after a full briefing. “I can assure you that the state government is on top of the situation and will ensure his safe release,” he said.
X-rayed by the Sunday Vanguard, as of the time of filing this report, security agencies have been deployed in the area to rescue the abducted lawmaker and track down the perpetrators.
