Residents across Lagos and parts of Ogun State should prepare for intermittent power supply next week as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) begins essential maintenance work on major transmission lines.
The three-day exercise, scheduled between November 26 and 29, will see engineers installing wave traps on the 330 kV line bays at Aja and Alagbon Transmission Substations. Work will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said communities served by Eko Electricity Distribution Company will be affected, including Lagos Island, Apapa, Mushin, Lekki, Ojo, and Agbara.
“Residents and businesses should expect minor power fluctuations as we divert supply lines. We’re working to improve the transmission network’s reliability,” Mbah explained.
To minimize disruptions, TCN will reroute power during the maintenance window.
Supply from Alagbon Substation will temporarily flow through the Ijora 132 kV line, while Akoka and Oworo Substations will receive electricity via the Ikeja West 132 kV line.
While TCN promises to maintain essential supply, brief outages are inevitable during line switching operations.
This will be the third maintenance exercise this year, following similar upgrades in July and October that also caused temporary blackouts.
The November operation is part of TCN’s broader effort to modernize Lagos’ aging power infrastructure and improve service delivery across the state.
