Lege Miami, Nwabali Trade Blows on Social Media After Super Eagles’ World Cup Exit

A war of words has erupted between Nollywood actor Lege Miami and the Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali since Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Following the Super Eagles’ 2–1 loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, heavy criticism was pointed at the goalkeeper Nwabali, with Lege Miami real name Kehinde Adams also joining those who blamed the goalkeeper for the defeat.

Lege accused the Chippa United shot-stopper of “playing too much” during the critical game and went further to make reference to Nwabali’s late father in his comments, sparking outrage.

The visibly angry Nwabali took to Instagram to warn the actor to leave his late father out of his commentary.

“Lege Miami, remove my late dad’s name from your mouth if you’re doing your content,” Nwabali said. “If you don’t respect people’s dad, at least respect the dead. I’m not your regular type of footballer. I will beat you mercilessly. You’re free to insult me, but remove my late dad’s name.”

Reacting, Lege issued a partial apology for mentioning Nwabali’s father but immediately launched into further criticism, accusing the goalkeeper of arrogance and poor leadership on the pitch.

“First of all, if I mentioned your late dad’s name and made you upset, I am sorry,” he said. “But you are very rude to your colleagues and on the pitch. You want to control the whole field and you don’t listen to correction.”

He faulted Nwabali for what he described as unnecessary flair and lack of stability inside the penalty area. “Your hanky-panky on the pitch is too much. You should be giving your teammates courage. You were playing with the ball inside the box are you the only goalkeeper in Nigeria? You made a lot of mistakes.” Lege also warned Nwabali against sending him further direct messages and insisted the goalkeeper should apologize publicly. “You have no right to insult me. Make a video and apologise to all Nigerians,” he declared.
