Borno State Police Command has apprehended a mentally unstable woman who allegedly killed another internally displaced person (IDP) in Monguno Local Government Area of the state.
Reports explain that the assault occurred on October 10, 2025, at around 4:35 p.m., when a certain Modu Kolomi of the RRR IDP Camp reported that a woman, 40-year-old Yagana Zara of the Water Board IDP Camp, attacked his wife, 30-year-old Yagana Abba Butu, with a wooden stirrer.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim multiple times, inflicting severe internal injuries. Security agents swiftly intervened to rescue the suspect from the jaws of an irate mob and rushed the victim to Monguno General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead on arrival.
The corpse of the deceased was later taken to the hospital mortuary for postmortem analysis and subsequently released to her relatives for Islamic burial.
Police sources explained that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Maiduguri for investigation, and the suspect was taken to a psychiatric hospital for medical checkup.
