A leaked WhatsApp conversation claiming to show Mohbad’s brother demanding money for crucial video footage has sparked fresh controversy around the late singer’s death.
Actor Yomi Fabiyi shared the chat on Instagram, allegedly between himself and Adura, the younger brother of Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba, who died on September 12, 2023.
Nearly two years later, questions around his death remain unanswered despite multiple investigations.
In the December 11, 2024 chat, someone identifying as Adura claimed to have video evidence of a fight between Mohbad and a woman named Cynthia.
The person demanded ₦3 million before releasing the footage.
The message also alleged that the video shows Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, pushing her husband, causing him to hit his head on the floor.
“Hello Mr activist. I’ve a video of the fight with Cynthia and my brother. I want 3 million naira before I send the video.
The video get where Wunmi push my brother and e use his head nack floor,” the message reads.
Fabiyi, who has been vocal about seeking justice for Mohbad, posted the screenshots without confirming whether he paid for or received the video.
The leak has reignited public debate about what really happened to the 27-year-old artist.
In February 2025, a Yaba Magistrate Court cleared music stars Naira Marley and Sam Larry, along with Mohbad’s friend Primeboy, ruling there was no evidence connecting them to his death.
Authorities have since focused on an auxiliary nurse and another friend who were with Mohbad shortly before he died.
Both individuals are currently facing charges as investigations continue.
