Nollywood star, Muyideen Oladapo, better known as Lala, has revealed that all arrangements are on for the grand theatre performance of “The Gods Have Spoken” at Terra Kulture, Lagos, on October 18 and 19, 2025.
Taiye Adeola penned the opera that will feature a list of the creme de la creme of Nollywood stars such as Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Tunji Sotimirin, Omowunmi Dada, and Lizzy Jay.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Lala who previously directed Ola Rotimi’s “Kurunmi” described the production as a groundbreaking artistic experiment. According to him, bringing Nollywood stars to the opera stage offers audiences a rare chance to see them in a completely new light.
He revealed that the play boasts a 40-page script and over 140 pages of music notation, utilizing over 80 actors and crew members. “Opera is theatre by way of art and music. All the dialogue is sung. The Gods Have Spoken represents the truth about society and provides hope for the everyman in pursuing destiny,” he explained.
Actor Tunji Sotimirin described the production as a “unique and powerful story that celebrates the common man’s voice,” and Choreography Director Segun Adefila noted its fate and personality themes, indicating that it explores how human choices can contribute to destiny.
Music Director Adeaga Mofopefoluwa praised the artistic richness of the opera, guaranteeing viewers “a captivating and richly orchestrated experience unlike anything they’ve seen before.”.
Producer Olamide Oladapo added that the play promises a blend of music, dance, and acting in a fully immersive performance. “It’s total theatre satire, rhythm, and art combined. We’re bringing something truly special to the stage,” he said.
