Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has claimed that a major transfer involving Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and Real Madrid is more than just speculation.
Oliseh revealed on the Global Football Insight Podcast that he received credible information from a “top personality” indicating that the Spanish giants are seriously considering Osimhen as a potential signing. While he declined to disclose the source, he expressed excitement about the prospect, saying he was “happy for the young man” upon hearing the news.
According to Oliseh, Real Madrid’s interest fits into the club’s broader squad restructuring. He suggested that bringing in a traditional No. 9 like Osimhen would free up star forward Kylian Mbappé to operate from his favoured left-wing position.
Osimhen’s current form in Turkey appears to be driving the interest. The 26-year-old has been outstanding since joining Galatasaray permanently in July 2025 for a Turkish-record €75 million — a move that followed a prolific loan spell. He scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 appearances last season, powering the team to a domestic double and finishing as the Super Lig’s top scorer.
His performance in Europe has been equally impressive, with six goals in just three UEFA Champions League matches this season making him one of the hottest strikers on the continent and a realistic target for elite clubs like Real Madrid.
