The Area Command Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, has paid courtesy visits to three powerful monarchs in Oyo State the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade; Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghnnandi Afolabi Olaoye; and Olugbon of Oriloe-Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao as part of measures to solidify community relations an facilitate cooperation.
In a statement attributed to thein command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Abdulmalik Akintola, on the Nigria Customs Service’s authentic Facebook page on Saturday, the visits, which were carried out on October 8, 2025, were part of the Controller’s constant interaction in a bid to enhance synergy between Customs and traditional institutions in order to advance trade facilitation, revenue generation, and anti-smuggling operations.
During the meeting, Comptroller Aliyu praised the monarchs for keeping their domains peaceful and stable. He stated that collaboration with traditional rulers is crucial for the achievement of the Service’s core mandates and called for further support in enlightening citizens against smuggling and other economic offenses that sabotage national development.
In their response, the royal fathers pledged their absolute support to the Nigeria Customs Service, appreciating Comptroller Aliyu’s leadership quality and commitment to collaboration. They offered their readiness to collaborate with the command in ensuring peace, trade by legal means, and economic growth in their areas.
The visits, the release added, also highlighted the commitment of the Oyo/Osun Area Command to maximizing community relations and stakeholder cooperation in the successful performance of its statutory duties.
