The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, December 11, 2025, brought the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the organisation’s Director of Finance, Omolala Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H. B. Yusuf of the FCT High Court.

The two officials are facing a two-count charge over the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the Corps.

According to the first charge, both Akon and Ahmed were accused of conspiring in 2024 to commit criminal misappropriation an offence under Section 96 of the FCT Penal Code.

The second charge alleges that they diverted ₦46 million out of ₦60 million meant for supplying Corps badges, converting the money to their personal use.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty. Following this, EFCC counsel Khalid Sanusi asked the court to fix a date for trial.

Justice Yusuf granted them bail in the sum of ₦5 million each, with one surety apiece who must live in Abuja and be of reputable standing. The case was adjourned to February 25, 2026, for the start of trial.
