The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has deployed additional tactical units to join military personnel and vigilantes in an intensified search-and-rescue operation for the 25 students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.
Kebbi Police Command spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, said in a statement that the combined team is actively combing bandits’ escape routes and surrounding forests in an effort to locate the victims and apprehend the attackers.
According to the police, the assault occurred on November 17, 2025, at about 4:00 am when heavily armed bandits invaded the school, firing sporadically. Police tactical units at the scene engaged the attackers in a shootout, but the bandits had already scaled the school’s fence and kidnapped 25 students from their hostel.
During the attack, one civilian, Hassan Makuku, was killed, while another, Ali Shehu, sustained an injury to his right hand.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state. He urged residents to stay calm, remain vigilant, and continue cooperating with security agencies to help restore peace and stability.
