Nigerian Police Force Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin has responded to an eyebrow-raising request from a woman who wanted her boyfriend arrested and locked up for weeks, or even months, to “help him change.”
Hundeyin shared a screenshot of the message on X (formerly Twitter), and it didn’t take long for Nigerians to weigh in with shock and amusement.
The woman’s message read:
“Good evening sir, I want you to arrest my boyfriend and lock him up in cell for weeks or months. I’ve a serious case with him so he can change.”
Hundeyin’s response was short, professional, and straight to the point:
“We are law-abiding, please 🙄. We do not lock people up without legal basis.”
The exchange quickly went viral, sparking a mix of reactions.
While many applauded Hundeyin for maintaining professionalism, others couldn’t help but joke about the lengths some people will go to in relationships.
Hundeyin was appointed Force Public Relations Officer on September 4, 2025, by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, following the passing out parade of newly promoted senior officers.
