Tech Exec’s Disturbing Old Tweets Resurface After Public Fallout With Business Partner

A prominent Nigerian tech entrepreneur, Ezra Olubi, is under fire after his old tweets from over a decade ago came back to haunt him.

The posts, dating from 2009 to 2013, contain sexually explicit jokes and inappropriate comments about colleagues that have left many questioning his judgment.

The resurfaced messages paint an uncomfortable picture.

The technocrat made jokes about getting erections during work meetings, expressed desires to photograph a coworker’s thighs, and posted comments involving minors and sexualized anime characters.

One tweet from May 23, 2011, stands out: “Monday will be more fun with an ‘a’ in it. Touch a coworker today. Inappropriately.”

As the scandal unfolded, people also dug up footage from the 2022 National Honours ceremony where former President Muhammadu Buhari presented the technocrat with his OON (Order of the Niger) award.

The Paystack co-founder had shown up wearing lipstick and makeup, a moment that drew attention at the time.

The video made its rounds again, with one user captioning it: “Only Buhari knew what he saw,” referencing the president’s memorable expression during the encounter.

The internet is divided. Some are genuinely shocked by the content of the old tweets, while others are asking harder questions about what these posts reveal about his character and mental state.

Many are now wondering how this will affect his reputation in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem and his professional relationships going forward.

The timing couldn’t be worse, coming on the heels of his very public split with his business partner. For now, the technocrat hasn’t addressed the controversy directly.
