UNIZIK Aspirant Scores 328 in JAMB But Gets Admitted for Different Course

A UNIZIK aspirant’s admission story has gotten people talking on social media after he revealed he was offered a completely different course from what he applied for, even with an outstanding JAMB score.

Amalawa Moses, who scored an impressive 328 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam, shared screenshots showing he applied to study Medicine at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK).

However, his admission letter showed something else entirely: Applied Biochemistry.

His JAMB registration slip also showed that Ambrose Alli University in Edo State was his second choice.

The news has created conversations online, with many students and education watchers questioning how someone with such a high score didn’t get into their first-choice course.

Some have pointed to the highly competitive nature of medical school admissions in Nigeria, while others believe the system needs serious review.

This comes on the heels of another incident that put UNIZIK in the spotlight.

A 300-level student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, from the Department of History and International Studies, was expelled after physically assaulting a lecturer.

The altercation involved Dr. Chukwudi Okoye from the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies.

Reports say the lecturer had interrupted Precious while she was recording a TikTok video in the university corridor.

Things quickly escalated, and a viral video showed the student biting the lecturer, tearing his clothes, and scratching his face.

The university wasted no time in responding. A disciplinary committee was set up, and after investigating the incident, Precious was expelled for gross misconduct and breaking university rules.
