Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has ignited a fresh debate online after boldly stating that her husband, Femi Atere, cannot have a female best friend.
During an appearance on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, Veekee was asked whether married men should be allowed to maintain close friendships with women outside their marriage.
While she acknowledged that it might work for some couples, she made her position crystal clear, it’s a hard no in her household.
“Femi Atere can never have a female best friend,” she declared without hesitation.
“There is absolutely no space for any woman to occupy that position in my home. And even if there was, I would fill it with all of myself.”
The fashion mogul explained that while other men, like the interviewer or even her own brother, might have female best friends with their partners’ blessing, her marriage operates differently.
For her, the boundary isn’t up for negotiation.
Veekee stressed that every marriage has unique rules and that couples should define what works for them without pressure from outsiders.
