Wale Edun Addresses Health Rumors: “I’m Fine and Recovering in Abuja”

Nigeria’s Finance Minister Wale Edun has personally addressed rumors that swept social media claiming he’d suffered a stroke and was rushed overseas for medical care.

Through investigative journalist Jackson Ude, who served as an aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Edun set the record straight on X (formerly Twitter).

“I don’t have stroke. I am in Abuja and feeling better,” the minister said, making it clear he’s been dealing with a minor health issue but nothing as serious as the rumors suggested.

Edun admitted he’s been under the weather recently, which is why he had to skip his trip to Washington DC for the 2025 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings.

“I don’t have stroke. I am not diagnosed with stroke. I got a bit sick and had to stay back to get treatment. I am getting better now,” he explained.

The speculation gained momentum after people noticed his absence from a recent economic delegation.

Social media quickly filled with claims that he’d been airlifted abroad for emergency treatment.

Now the minister has cleared the air. He’s in Abuja, getting treated locally, and recovering well.
