A Katampe resident who survived the Abuja armed robbery that killed Arise TV journalist Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu has opened up about the terrifying attack.

Sani Yusuf, who lives in the same apartment block where the incident happened, says he was the first person targeted by the robbers.
In a post on X, he described the experience as traumatic.
“This happened at the block I live in. I was the first victim to be attacked. Right in the heart of Abuja, man.
I don’t wish anyone the things I witnessed. When I’m ready, I’ll share details. For now, may the souls of the departed find peace,” Yusuf wrote.
The early morning robbery is now under police investigation. Maduagwu, who worked as a news anchor, reporter, and producer at Arise TV, was killed during the attack, sending shockwaves through Nigeria’s media community and beyond.
Police have assured residents they’re working to apprehend the attackers and improve security in Katampe.
In a heartbreaking twist, one of Maduagwu’s recent tweets resurfaced after her death. In it, she had prayed that “Nigeria never happens to her or her loved ones.”
