The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended four suspects, a vandald and cultist, in its ongoing battle against armed robbery, kidnapping, and vandalism in the state.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Timfon John, disclosed this on Friday at the Command’s headquarters, Uyo. Her words are that the operations were carried out in Ikono Local Government Area and Uyo based on credible intelligence.

“Between 05:17 hours, the operatives raided a cult den in Itak Village, Ikono, and arrested one Emmanuel Emmanuel Anthony, 26-year-old suspected cultist,” John stated. Items recovered are a locally made pistol, Ekpo masquerade mask, and a bag containing charms.

PPRO also confirmed the arrest of three other suspects who were involved in the vandalism of AISWC critical infrastructure. The suspects, Itoro Moses David and Patrick Effiom, were arrested when they attempted to steal armored cables in the company’s Brooks Street facility in Uyo.

Their own confessions later led to the arrest of a third accomplice, Edidiong Edet Edet, who is a well-known gang member. The police also recovered the stolen cables.

DSP John confirmed that investigations to arrest more members of the syndicate were already in progress and assured that the suspects would be brought to court for arraignment as soon as the investigation was completed.
