Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two alleged cultists that were into kidnapping, armed robbery, and other syndicated crimes.
Police public relations officer DSP Timfon John revealed in Uyo on Monday that the operation was based on credible intelligence gathered from members of the public. Following a tip-off they received around 1:00 a.m., the suspects Donald Iwat and Daniel Bruno were arrested by operatives at Iyah Street, Uyo.
Items recovered from them are a jack knife, walkie-talkie, gunpowder, bullet-proof charm, two machetes, police lanyard, and two face caps with the Black Axe cult group insignia.
DSP John said the suspects are being questioned to understand the extent of their criminal network as well as their accomplices.
The Command assured citizens that it is committed to ending cultism and violent crime in the state, and by issuing an appeal to the public to continue providing accurate information to assist law enforcement.
