As preparations for the 2027 general elections gain traction, APC governors stated that the party remains unmatched by any opposition, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC). They also reiterated their absolute support for the new leadership of the party and the forthcoming electronic membership registration.

Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, made this known on Tuesday while on a visit to the ICT/Data Centre at the APC national secretariat in Abuja with Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo.

Speaking to journalists in the course of the inspection, Uzodinma taunted the apprehensions regarding the ADC’s recent pronouncement, stating, “There are only two political parties in Nigeria: the APC and others. The ADC’s claims are theirs, not ours.”

The governors were received by the newly appointed APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who conducted them around the facilities in preparation for the forthcoming electronic registration of members. Uzodinma expressed confidence in the system, noting that the initiative would kick off fully soon.

“We’re impressed with what we’ve seen. The e-registration process is well-planned and will help consolidate our party’s strength across the nation,” he said.

Uzodinma also praised Yilwatda’s leadership, describing him as “handsome, tall, full of energy and intelligence,” and stated that his ascension was a giant step for the future of the party.

During his speech, Professor Yilwatda restated the APC’s aim to use technology to strengthen party administration and mobilization at the grassroots level. “With this e-registration, we will get to know how many members there are, get to know our supporters, and solidify our base in all states,” he explained. “It will help in planning, research, and offering targeted support to members.”.

Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, assumed office as APC National Chairman on July 24, 2025, at the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tuesday also witnessed his first session as presiding over the party’s 177th regular National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, whose deliberation focused on the rollout of electronic registration and preparation for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

APC governors led by Governor Ododo pledged their unwavering support to President Bola Tinubu, Chairman Yilwatda, and the party’s overall electoral strategy.

The party’s leadership expressed a very strong optimism that APC remains the mightiest political party in Nigeria and poised to remain in power after 2027.
