APC’s Ali Dalori Mobilises IDPs, Flood Victims for Voter Registration in Borno

The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ali Dalori, has initiated a voters’ mobilisation campaign among the people of Borno State displaced by insurgency of Boko Haram and last year’s devastating floods.

Speaking at the exercise in Dalori ward of Konduga Local Government Area on Sunday, Dalori explained that the programme is designed to ensure that displaced persons, flood victims, and youths who were underage in the 2023 general elections but are now eligible to vote, are not left behind in the democratic process.

The mobilisation exercise is expected to have a significant impact on the voter registration exercise, particularly for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and flood victims who may have lost their voter cards or been disfranchised by displacement and insecurity,” Dalori explained.

He repeated that although some of the inhabitants still possess their voters’ cards, others lost theirs as a result of insurgency attacks, floods, or fire outbreaks. “We have some of them who have recently come of age to vote, and we are urging them to go and register during the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) so that they can cast their votes in the 2027 general elections,” he added.

Dalori also recalled the APC’s strong performance in the 2023 elections, where the party swept positions from the presidency downwards in Borno, expressing confidence that with the current mobilisation, the APC could triple its votes in 2027.

Community members welcomed the initiative, praising Dalori’s efforts. Bulama Modu, a youth leader, noted that the large turnout for the CVR in Konduga reflected the residents’ trust in Dalori’s leadership.

Similarly, Aishatu Umar, one of the residents that participated in the exercise, commended the APC leader for placing the grassroots voters on high priority. She revealed that women in the community have formed themselves into groups to educate their counterparts who lost their voters’ cards to insurgency, flooding, or outbreaks of fire, to take advantage of the registration exercise.
