Bandits Kill Three Fishermen, Injure Two in Fresh Sokoto Attacks

Suspected bandits have remained on the rampage in Sokoto State, killing three fishermen in an early morning attack on Tuesday in Sanyinna Community, Tangaza Local Government Area.

The victims, according to local reports, were ambushed while fishing to make a living daily. In another incident on Monday, armed attackers raided Sutti and Takkau villages, also in Tangaza LGA, and wounded two inhabitants, taking livestock away.

Garzali Raka, the Tangaza Council Chairman’s Special Assistant on Security, confirmed the attacks. He revealed that the bandits abducted cows, camels, sheep, and goats but were later ambushed by security agents in Siddi, who engaged them with guns and recovered the stolen animals.

The two injured individuals are undergoing treatment at the Tangaza General Hospital, Raka said. He also voiced concern over the growing trend of daytime attacks on pastoral communities and called upon federal and state governments to make serious efforts towards bridging the insecurity gap.

Re-establishing peace is crucial to development and stability in the region, he emphasized.
