Bauchi Governor Appoints Chinese Economic Adviser, Signs Landmark Deal with China

Governor Bala Muhammed

Bauchi State is strengthening its ties with China in a big way. Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed Chinese national Mr. Li Zhensheng as the state’s Economic Adviser and signed a major partnership agreement with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre.

The appointment and Memorandum of Understanding were announced on Thursday as part of Governor Mohammed’s strategy to attract more foreign investment and speed up the state’s development.

According to the governor, this partnership will help transform Bauchi into a center for international cooperation, focusing on agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.

The deal includes setting up a Bauchi State office in China to manage projects and ensure they’re completed on time.

Governor Mohammed sees this as part of the bigger picture of growing friendship between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, which encourages partnerships between Chinese organizations and Nigerian states.

“This agreement is not just about infrastructure—it’s about transforming lives. We are opening Bauchi to the world,” Mohammed explained.

He believes the partnership will bring foreign investment, create jobs, improve skills, modernize local industries, and put Bauchi on the international map.

Mr. Zhensheng, who chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, promised his organization’s full support for Bauchi’s economic growth.

“We are committed to helping Bauchi achieve sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods,” he said.
