Bauchi Governor Celebrates 70% Budget Performance, Eyes Supplementary Plan to Sustain Growth

Governor Bala Muhammed

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, revealed that more than 70 per cent of the budget lines of the state for 2025 have outperformed initial expectations, showing what he described as a strong fiscal outlook for the state.

Speaking at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the Bauchi governor said the different ministries, departments, and agencies not only met but surpassed their revenue projections.

The 2025 budget, which was themed the “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainable Development,” was initially presented at N465.085 billion, comprising N182.744 billion (39.3%) for recurrent expenditure and N282.341 billion (60.7%) for capital expenditure.

Following legislative review, it was revised slightly upwards and eventually signed into law at N467.085 billion in late December. Recurrent and capital splits remained in line with the proposal.

Governor Mohammed credited this performance to the state’s overhauled revenue generation machinery and prudent use of resources, highlighting the central role of budgetary discipline in driving development.

Nonetheless, he cautioned that the good pace must be maintained. The government would return to the drawing board to capture additional revenues in expectation of a supplementary budget so that development strides can be increased and consolidated.

In an attempt to attain optimum development effects, the governor ensured corrective measures would be applied in ensuring equal allocation of funds to major sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure, where the Bauchi residents experience maximum direct benefits.
