The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Mr. Ogbu Simon, and seized narcotic substances valued at ₦12.2 million during a raid in Ningi Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. He said the arrest followed credible intelligence received on November 26, 2025, after a concerned resident reported suspicious sacks being offloaded at the suspect’s shop.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly transports narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and surrounding communities.
Acting on the tip-off, detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, raided the shop, where four sacks containing suspected Tramadol and Diazepam were recovered.
Following the discovery, Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. He also deployed the Operation Restore Peace team, headed by CSP Abdulrazak Fada, to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect.
Recovered items include 17,500 sachets of suspected Tramadol and 487 packs of Diazepam (popularly known as “Yellow Voice”), with an estimated street value of ₦12.2 million.
CP Aliyu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information that can help curb crime.
The police added that the suspect and the recovered exhibits will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
