The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has threatened to initiate a special operation to expel foreign herders who commit violent or destructive acts within Darazo Local Government Area.

In a statement during an operational visit to Darazo, CP Aliyu reiterated the command’s commitment to peace and security, especially with the advent of the harvest season. He emphasized the necessity for amicable settlements of constant farmer-herder clashes.

The visit, which was also observed by the council chairman, community leaders, farmers, herders, and other stakeholders, was meant to strengthen cooperation and promote peaceful coexistence.

Speaking during a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed, CP Aliyu announced that the command will implement alternative dispute resolution channels and initiate a specific operation to coordinate the activities of the foreign herders in a bid to maintain harmony and stability in the area.

He appealed to the citizens to work with security authorities by providing timely intelligence and warned herders and farmers against taking the law into their own hands.

In his own contribution, Darazo Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Sama’ila Ya’u Sade, underscored calling for durable solutions through oneness, dialogue, and collaboration among stakeholders.
