There had been disputes between Wizkid’s fanbase, Wizkid FC and Burna Boy’s Outsiders following the two Afrobeats icons’ appearance on Gunna’s new album.
The online drama began after Burna Boy, using a burner Instagram account, shared a performance photo with the caption: “This is 2021. And I’ve been doing this since GLO and Star Trek tour days. Na just last Christmas una start am. FC, tread softly o. Body dey pepper me.” He later added, “Create your happiness any which way. It’s allowed!” a post many interpreted as a jab at Wizkid’s fans.
A Wizkid supporter fired back, accusing Burna of being annoyed with a subpar album:
“Bro just stfu. Who don pass you don pass you… See as FC dey make you dey explain and cry every hour.
Burna Boy responded, “Ok, I don gree, anything Gumbody him pass me. But na me dey sell stadiums for where ur idolo dey cancel him small small venues. Bro just dey happy dey go, Free me. My own no good.”
He further fueled the competition by commenting on another post, stating that he was the one who first went shirtless on stage in 2014 during the GLO tour:
“Only the biggest can run it, don’t play. All love. But I did this in 2014 for the very first time… I no fit dey follow una drag. Enjoy.”
