Comedian Carter Efe has set social media ablaze after making some bold claims about his educational background during a heated livestream with fans.
The popular skit maker was clearly frustrated with some viewers who he felt weren’t showing him enough respect.
In typical Carter Efe fashion, he decided to put them in their place by dropping what he thought was his ultimate flex – his university credentials.
“I went to Babcock University and graduated with first class upper. Go and ask. I studied biochemistry. I was the best in my set.
Make Una no use me dey play o. Most of Una go come on livestream dey think say whether I be Una mate. I senior most of Una,” he declared with obvious pride.
But there’s just one problem – and eagle-eyed Nigerians caught it immediately.
The phrase “first class upper” had people doing double-takes across the internet.
Anyone familiar with the Nigerian university system knows that a First Class degree doesn’t have subdivisions like “upper” or “lower.”
It’s simply First Class, period. The confusion has led many to question whether Carter actually attended university at all.
This isn’t the first time the comedian has made these claims either. He’s previously tweeted about his supposed academic excellence, but the awkward phrasing keeps raising eyebrows.
Nigerian social media users wasted no time roasting the entertainer:
“First class upper? Him don create him own degree, everything na mindset,” one user joked.
Another couldn’t hide their confusion: “First class has an ‘upper’? This is my first time hearing this.”
“First class upper keh?? Make this guy calm down na,” wrote another, clearly amused by the mix-up.
One particularly savage comment read: “Oh boy, you nor go school. Just continue wetin you dey do to make money, because this your first class upper nor join.”
