Contractors Block Finance Ministry Over Unpaid Projects

Nigeria

Contractors from the Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria shut down the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja on Tuesday, demanding payment for projects they completed but haven’t been paid for.

According to Channels television, he contractors blocked the main entrance with placards, saying they finished government projects in 2024 but still haven’t received their money.

They want the ministry to pay them immediately.

The protest stopped all activities at the ministry, with staff unable to enter the building.

Even the Finance Minister and his convoy were blocked from using the main gate, forcing him to find another way in.

When the ministry’s Permanent Secretary tried to talk to the contractors, they refused to listen.

They insisted that only the minister himself should come out to address them directly.

This is the latest protest by contractors who say the Federal Government owes them money for work they’ve already completed.
