Don’t Destroy Akwa Ibom With Hate Speech, Governor Umo Eno Warns Critics

Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has called on citizens, especially those critical of his administration, to desist from hate speech and divisive utterances that could derail peace and distract the government from its development objectives.

Speaking during the November edition of the Government House Covenant Service held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, Governor Eno emphasized the need to preserve the unity and harmony that define Akwa Ibom. He cautioned that careless words can cause deep divisions and derail progress.

“Try to stay away from anything that infuriates people. The comments you make, whether in public or private, should uplift others,” he said. “The person you destroy today may be the same person you need tomorrow. Let’s manage our emotions and focus on what truly matters.”

The governor then explained that Akwa Ibom was to host two major events in December: the Unity Concert on the 6th and the annual Christmas Carol on the 19th, both aimed at fostering togetherness and thanksgiving.

Eno said this year’s Unity Concert is aimed at bringing different people together in worship, while the Christmas Carol will be “strictly dedicated to Christmas songs, encouraging creativity and reverence for the season”.

He concluded by thanking the people of Akwa Ibom for their continued support and attendance at the monthly covenant service, wishing everyone a blessed new month.
