There was a dramatic scene on Wednesday, March 12, at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex when Governor Siminalayi Fubara was blocked from entering the complex in his convoy.
Channels TV reports that security men at the complex shut the gates on arrival, claiming there was no official communication between the Assembly and the governor’s office.
Governor Fubara, however, confirmed that he had formally informed Speaker Martins Amaewhule of his visit by letter and even phoned him on Tuesday.
The governor’s visit was meant to adhere to last week’s Supreme Court ruling, where he was directed to present the state budget to the lawmakers.
